Portrait

Portraits can be undertaken with adults as the subject and are equally successful when children are the subject matter. In portraiture there is a search for a balance between representation of the physical appearance of the sitter and the attempt at a psychological portrayal.

Marta

The bone structure of this models’ face gave me an impression of how she may look at a more advanced age. The shape of the head is often more descriptive than that of the face. She wore a swimming cap to emphasise the shape of her skull.

Young children

This family of three children are portrayed as individuals and also as a team. The design concept of this piece allows the changing of position of each child and also includes the possibility of showing each child separately. The research for this piece included an extended period of observation.
